Mission Control: Dimension adds a suite of powerful tools for acquiring 4D STEM datasets to our Mission Control software. Dimension enables real-time visualization of virtual STEM images from user-defined virtual detectors, whilst simultaneously recording 4D datasets to disk in open formats at rapid frame rates. With the DE-FreeScan scan generator, Dimension can simultaneously control the microscope scan coils as well as the camera, greatly simplifying the 4D STEM workflow for general users, and enabling advanced features such as custom scanning patterns.
Dimension allows users to record 4D datasets with unlimited data streaming up to the maximum frame rate of the camera, and simultaneously view up to four live images in real time. The choice of live images includes camera frames, virtual STEM images, and FFTs. Users can also choose to scan an area repeatedly, recording data with each scan, enabling in situ 4D STEM.
Dimension enables users to interactively create and edit their own virtual STEM detectors for each experiment by drawing detector masks over a STEM diffraction pattern acquired by the camera. This allows users to view bright-field, annular bright-field, annular dark-field, and dark-field TEM signals and more in real-time during 4D STEM acquisition.
The Dimension module is compatible with our Celeritas and Celeritas XS cameras, and our DE-16, DirectView2 and DE-64 cameras. Dimension is available with the purchase of new camera systems, and as an upgrade for existing customers with compatible hardware.
